Well, finally something from me! It's not my first story, but it is my first Fanfic, and I hope you like it. I would like to hear what you think of it. Don't put your reactions here, but in 'Tell us what you think!'.
The Pain of Loss
Arthur cried for an hour when he heard the news, sitting in the kitchen at Grimboulds Place. Sirius had told him.
‘Is there anything we can do for you, Arthur?’. He asked now. Arthur shaked his head. For a moment it was silent, except from the gasps of Arthur. No one knew what to say... Finally Remus began to speak.
‘You have to go home, Arthur. You have to tell Molly, before she looks on her clock.’
Again Arthur shaked his head.
‘No, she won’t’, he said slowly. ‘She never does these days. The hands are constant on “mortal danger”.’
Again it was silent, and again it was Remus who said something.
‘Go home, Arthur! Tell Molly, we can’t do anything for you here.’
Arthur could see the tears in his eyes and he nodded.
‘You’d better use the fireplace’, said Sirius as he gave him some floopowder.
‘Yes, I’d better to that...’ Arthur walked to the fireplace and threw the floopowder into the fire. He turned around one last time, looking to the other members. There were tears on everyone’s faces now.
‘Thanks...’, he said with a hoarse voice. He turned to the fireplace; ‘The Burrow’, and disapeared.
‘Arthur? Is that you?’ Molly yelled. ‘Can you help me with dinner? Charlie and Bill will be eating here too!’ Arthur didn’t answer, he couldn’t. He slowly walked to the kitchen, watching Molly preparing dinner. She didn’t knew...
Molly turned around.
‘Arthur! Can you...’ She stopped when she saw his face; pale and his eyes filled with tears.
‘Oh my God, Arthur! What happened? Are you allright?’
But Arthur couldn’t speak.
‘Arthur! Tell me, what’s wrong? Is it someone from the Order?’
Arthur nodded.
‘Who? Kingley? Remus? Tell me, Arthur!
‘It’s Charlie...’, Arthur whispered. He looked at Molly. Tears where filling her eyes too now, as all the color had left her face.
‘What... What’s wrong with him?’she asked with a small voice.
‘Molly...’, Arthur forced himself to look into her eyes.
‘Molly, he’s death.’
Suddenly Molly began to laugh.
‘No! You’re joking!’ But it was a hysterical laugh. In her heart she knew he was telling the truth.
‘No!’ She yelled and ran out of the kitchen into the garden.
For a moment Arthur just stood there, alone. Then he remembered the words of Remus and he ran into the garden as well. He saw Molly at the end, leaning against the fench, looking out over the endless fields behind their house. Slowly he walked towards her. He heard her crying now and he put his arms around her. He pulled her down in the grass, and they leaned against eachother.
‘When did it happened’, Molly asked between two gaspes.
‘About an hour ago, when he was guarding the Prophecy’, Arthur said.
‘And who...?’
Now there was anger on Arthur’s face.
‘Remus and Tonks found him. They went to see if he was okay, because he was supposed to be back by then. When they arrived, they saw three Death Eathers disapparate. One of them was Lucius Malfoy, they recognized his voice as he was... as he was laughing.’
‘Why him?’ Cried Molly.
‘Why Charlie? He’d never done anything wrong!’
‘No, he didn’t dear... No one deserves this... But you know the Dark Lord doesn’t care about that.’
Arthur couln’t comfort her with that.
‘Remus and Tonks said there had been a fight, they had seen that. Charlie is... was a strong and a brave man. I bet they had a hard time before...’ But he couln't speak further.
Molly nodded.
‘I know he was, but it didn’t help him, did it?’
‘No... it didn’t’, Arthur admitted, and Molly cried again.
‘Sssh, dear, we’re going to be fine. Everything’s going to be fine. One day we’ll get them, I promise you.’
He kissed her tears away, until he began crying too.
There they sat in the garden, leaning against eachother and watching the sun go down. And as they sheared the pain in their hearts, the love for eachother grew only stronger... |
