Avery Tanner

When he notices Avery, the man immediately draws his gun, but then lowers it when he sees Avery is a woman. Probably underestimating her. That's fine; if he decides to make trouble, she'll have the advantage. She carefully looks at the man, trying to estimate his physical strength.

Even though the man lowered his gun, Avery still has hers pointed at him. He could easily aim at her again, after all. He didn't put it away. She's inclined to trust him for now, however. Although Avery has been burned by that tactic many times - 'he's human' turned out to not be enough reason to trust someone - her instincts tell her that this man is okay.

The man then introduces himself as Daryl and says that he's here because of Elliot's message. Well. At least they got something - or someone, in this case - out of staying here for a while, despite the risks. Avery does think they need to move on soon, though.

Avery doesn't turn her head when Ric joins them, but keeps her gaze trained on Daryl. "He joined them," Avery adds. She sees no use in softening the facts. She finally puts her gun down, since Ric's presence means that they've definitely got the advantage now, but she still keeps an eye on Daryl's. "Glad to have another survivor with us," Avery says. "Where are you from?"

Daryl's eyes rapidly move to the other pillar. Paranoid he lifts his gun, ready to shoot. A young man appears, hardly older than 23, and he can't help but to relax. More survivors, huh?

"How many of you are here?'' he asks, pointing at the pillars. "All of you hiding behind those?''

A soft chuckle escapes his lips but fades away in silence as Elliot's death is confirmed. For real this time.

"I think the end of the message has already informed everyone about Elliot's whereabouts,'' Daryl sighs. "The least we can do right now is give him eternal rest.'' he adds a little bitter. "Before he decides to give it to us.''

Quietly he observes the two strangers. There was no way he could trust anyone he would meet, but anything was better than facing the living dead alone. They were practically forced to trust each other because they didn't have anyone else.

"I'm from nowhere. I wander around.'' Vague answer. Probably not what she wanted to hear. "But I was born in Ohio. What about you beautiful people?'' Not that he really cared, but it was good to build up some sort of bound.

Nick nods. "I got that he's either dead or.. gone, but I figured this was the only lead I had and I hoped other people would respond to it, so I at least have something. Besides, I didn't really have anywhere else to go or be. My family is dead." He shrugs, even though he can feel a hint of tears prickling in his eyes. He does not like to get reminded to the scene that has been haunting his dreams, no, nightmares, for weeks. Even though he'd give anything (if he had anything) for some sleep.

He feels more confused with the second, the girl now asking him to enter the church for her. Well, practically forcing him, since she's still pretty much threatening him with her machine gun. He doesn't quite understand why she is being so paranoid and demanding, while Nick is probably the least of her worries right now. He takes another step closer to her, carefully watching her.

"Why do you want me to go inside? Are you going to shoot me as soon as I turn my back towards you? What's your name, anyway?" Another step forward. "You're in charge here, even though I have no idea why you're aiming at someone who is actually still alive, while we're surrounded by those things. We're both alone, we could at least try to survive together if there's nothing in the church."

Roxann is starting to get irritated by this guy. Why was he still coming closer and why was he talking as if she wasn't in charge. Why didn't Nick get that Roxann wasn't interested in his reasons or the fact that his family was dead. Who cared any longer? None of Roxann's past helpers had family left to fight for. Nervously, Roxann laughs. ,,You don't get it, do you?''

Roxann quickly takes a look around. Nothing seemed to be odd. Roxann rolls her eyes when he asks why she wants him to take a look inside the church. She puffs out of frustration. Wasn't it obvious? Didn't he understand the situation? Or did he know that she barely had any ammo? How could he have checked that? Had Roxann left the car before, so he could've taken a look inside of it? Had Roxann left the machine gun somewhere out of her sight? Today? Yesterday? Last week? How much did this guy know? All kind of possible schemes against her raced through Roxann's head. Maybe Nick - if that was his name - already knew Roxann's name. Maybe Nick and Roxann's current helper schemed against her. Maybe they wanted her weapon; maybe they wanted her money.

,,Don't come closer,'' Roxann warns Nick, a little panicky now. ,,And please, just stop - stop talking,'' Roxann closes her eyes to think for a second. Luckily, she's wearing her sunglasses - he couldn't see that she didn't pay attention to him for a moment. ,,You're right. We're both alone,'' Roxann lied. Officialy, she was with that man who drove this car. Roxann had to check if Nick knew. ,,And sure, let's survive together if there's nothing in that church. So: take a look if there's indeed nothing in there,'' Roxann's left hand lets go of the car door. She got more frustrated with the minute and she had trouble hiding that she could freak out any minute now. ,,I won't shoot you. I just want you to check the church. Please,'' she calmly went on.

As Jocelyn drives further into the city, the number of dead people she sees begins to become larger and larger. Some of them are actually dead, but some of them are more like undead. Luckily though, she can also see some dead undead. That was a good thing. It meant that at least someone was trying to fix this. Or had been trying to fix this. She really hopes that those people are still around to save the day. That would be a great thing. At least that way, she wasn't alone out here.

Softly biting her lip, she checks out her surroundings, hoping to see the church she's looking for. When she's been driving for some time, she suddenly sees a sign that refers to the church. She pushes down onto the gas and prays that there are survivors camping out near the church. The closer she gets, the more weary she becomes. She needs to park her car somewhere and she doesn't want to leave all her stuff. What if someone gets in and drives off? If she's left out there on her own, with just one weapon, she'll surely die. And she really doesn't want to die yet.

When the church comes into view, she slowly pulls to a halt. Should she go in or not? Or maybe she can drive around to the back and see if she can go in through there? She runs her hand over her face and parks the car in the middle of the road. It's not like she's in the way for anyone.

She grabs her backpack and starts filling it up, just in case she gets seperated from her car. That is, of course, if and when she decides to go out and investigate. Well, she can't stay in her car forever, right? She'll have to get out at some point. But first, she decides, she will stay and study the building for a bit. See if she can spot something out of the ordinary.

Nick stops moving towards the girl and looks at her with an expectant look on his face. He really wants to know what the hell she wants from him and why she's being so goddamn paranoid. He slightly relieved when she finally seems to agree with him, though. Still, she asks him to check the church again and Nick feels annoyance building up inside of him. If it wasn't for the fact that he desperately needed contact with a living human being, he had already simply walked away. This girl sure was testing him.

He sighs. "Will you at least allow me to take my gun with me as I walk into that church? I really don't want to face those things unarmed if they're hiding in there. Normally I would run, but I haven't slept for days and I'm pretty much about to pass out already." He watches her, carefully, wishing he could see her eyes. He hates talking to people without being able to see their eyes. It doesn't seem honest and it scares him slightly. Especially if said person is holding a machine gun.

Anna moves further looking for the church, still with no idea why she was looking for a place where that poor Elliot had died. But who knows, maybe there were other survivors that also have heard Elliot’s message and are searching for the church just like Anna is doing now, or maybe some of them are already there. She puts her gun away, but in that way she can easily grab it if she need it. Only everything seemed to be very deserted, except for the dead people but also animals and some undead that are taking down are lying in every possible positions on the ground.

Then she sees a church in the far distant, but she isn’t sure or it is the church Elliot was when he send his message, cause who knows how many churches they have in this place. But there’s only one way to find that out and that’s to walk to it. Anna keeps moving forwards while she looks around if someone is crossing her path, alive or undead, hopefully someone alive.

Avery Tanner

"No, we're everyone that's left. Here, at least," Avery replies. She really hopes that there are more survivors in the east. Hopes that the zombies didn't hit the east coast as hard. But there is nothing she can do about it for the moment, so she pushes those thoughts away.

Avery nods when Daryl says that they'll need to give Elliot eternal rest, then listens to his vague explanation of where he's from. "I came here from L.A. I go to school there - or went to school, I suppose - but I'm from New York." And before that also Ohio. Cincinnati to be precise, but she doesn't feel like going into her life story right now. She has decided to trust him, but that doesn't mean she immediately wants to open up to him - or Ric, for that matter.

"Anyway, Ric - did you find any food? We'll probably need to scavenge anyway, but the more we find here the easier it will be on us later on," Avery says. She puts the safety back on her gun and then puts the gun back on her belt. Still within easy reach though, same as her sword and knives.

Nick pleas Roxann to allow him to get his shotgun. Roxann bites her lip, but as soon as she realises that it might make her look vulnerable, she stops. ,,Alright. But I'll keep my eyes on every of your movements,'' Roxann doubtingly tells him. ,,So once again: don't try to do anything stupid.''

The guy keeps complaining about how he's going to pass out and about how he hasn't slept for days. Well, Roxann thought, get over it. That was what you were going to get in this new world; that was contemporary life. You either get used to it, or you die. Roxann gets the poker from under the passenger seat in her free hand, closes the door of the car and signals Nick to start moving. ,,I've decided to walk you to the entrance. So, as long as you do what you have to do, I've got your back,'' Roxann tells him, proud of her willingness to help him out with what was now his problem.

If Nick would check the church for her, Roxann didn't have to risk going in there. If the church was empty, there was nothing going on - in that case, Roxann would just share her vehicle and everything in it with him, making him indebted to help her out in the future. The plan was absolutely perfect.

Nick rolls his eyes when the girl warns him again and he sighs. "Look, I don't know about you, but I'd rather shoot undead than living people. I don't get why you're being so damn paranoid. Can I at least get your name? First name is fine. Imagine I'll turn into a stalker, now the whole world has gone to sh*t." He mumbles sarcastically.

Then she announces she's decided to walk him to the entrance and Nick snorts. Because, seriously, this chick was probably the weirdest person he had ever met, including himself. He shrugs. "Whatever you want." He replies flatly, not really caring what she did, as long as it didn't involve shooting him.

He slowly picks up his shotgun, the weapon shaking in his hands, because he really has no idea how to use it. He calms himself down with the thought he could always try to smash someone's head with it or something. He casts another warning glance at the girl, before he turns around and walks to the door of the church. This is where he hesitates. He's nervous and, well, scared. He doesn't know what he'll find inside. He briefly wonders if the girl's car is still working, so they can use it to get away if it turns out the church is filled with zombies. There isn't much time to think, though. He knows for a fact that the girl is getting more paranoid every second he's wasting facing away from her.

He reaches out, almost knocks on the door, but then decides that it's useless to be polite or whatever. Even though he doesn't know if he should warn possible survivors that he's about to open the door. He takes a deep breath and turns the handle, pushing the door open with trembling hands.

Inside there seems to be one man, even though he quickly notices the two other people, half hiding behind pillars. He glances around the area, but there don't seem to be any undead creatures around, so he lowers his shotgun. He opens the door a bit wider, attempting to give Roxann the chance to look inside too. He awkwardly raises a hand and moves his fingers in some kind of wave. "Er.. Hi."

The new guy has questions. He wants to know how many of them are here; whether they're hiding behind the pillars. I wish, Ric thinks shortly. It sure would be a lot easier if they had an entire army. If they had a group; something to even remotely resemble a home. But they don't. Avery asks where he's from and he gives them a vague answer. Ric doesn't understand why. He wants to know where they are from. Avery answers his question, and Ric says: "I'm from Buenos Aires," he says, and he feels strange uttering the city's name. What he wouldn't do to be back there, with his friends and family. Instead, they're stuck in this nightmare.

"It's in Argentina," he adds, not sure how geography-savvy everyone is around here.

Avery snaps him out his thoughts by asking about the food. "Oh, yeah, I found some bread and water. Put it all in my bag in case we need to move. But that's all I found - I think our next step should be finding a proper source for food. After we've waited for a little bit more. Maybe more Daryl's will find their way in here." His voice is confident. He just uttered those words, when the door to the church opens. Ric's first instinct is to grab his gun and step forward and shoot, but it's not a zombie who appears in the doorway. It's a kid - not much older than Ric himself (he's never been too good with estimating ages).

Ric takes a deep breath, calming himself down. This is kind of confusing. He lived in solitude for so long, only having that solitude be disturbed by ghastly creatures, and now people seem to be all over the place. But that's good. People are good. It means that there's a chance that there are more survivors - much more survivors.

"Hey," Ric says, replying to the blonde kid. Before walking up to him, Ric glances at Avery so as to check if she's paying attention; to check if she's got his back in case he turns out to be more dangerous than he looks. When Ric reaches him, he shows him his hands. No weapons, see? His eyes go to the lowered shotgun in Nick's hand.

"A survivor too?" A slight smile appears on Ric's face. "Join the club. What's your name?" And Ric doesn't even think to check whether someone's behind Nick - he thinks it's pretty miraculous that they're here with the four of them to begin with.

They're the only ones. Well, that kind of sucks. Daryl nods when Avery says she's from New York and focuses the younger kid when she asks whether he found any food. It had been weeks since his last proper meal. Unfortunately the answer is only bread and water - but it's better than nothing and more than he could find. A troubled sigh escapes his lips. There was no way to predict how long it would take for other survivors to reach this place. That is, if they would reach it at all.

Daryl's hand races to his gun when the churchdoor opens, but to his relief it's no brain-eating monster. It's another kid. It was surprising how many people there were left. He hadn't seen a living soul - really living- until he got here.

"Welcome to the club of superheroes,'' he welcomes Blondie. "We're the ones that will save the world, or die trying.''

Avery Tanner

Ric's found some food, but not much. They'll probably have to find a convenience store then, and hope that all the non-perishables haven't already been taken by other people (who might already be zombies by now. A sobering thought.). Avery is surprised by Ric's confidence about potential other Daryls finding their way to them, but as if on cue the door of the church swings open and a blond-haired guy appears.

Avery immediately tenses up. He doesn't look too threatening, but looks can be deceiving. When Ric glances at her, she nods, almost imperceptibly. She can have her hand on her gun or one of her knives within moments, if necessary. Meanwhile, Ric asks the guy what his name is and Daryl welcomes him.

"Well, preferably without that last part," Avery adds with a grin. She looks at the new guy. For the first time, she notices that he's blocking the door opening; they can't look outside. "Are there any other people with you?" Not likely, but it's better to be sure.

Nick freezes, suddenly nervous when the boy that had been standing behind the pillars approaches him. He eyes him a bit suspiciously, even though he seems to not be carrying any weapons. He glances at the woman behind the pillars, who in fact does have a gun. The other guy has a gun too and suddenly the girl behind him doesn't look so dangerous anymore. He forces a smile on his face when the man smiles at him and nods at his question. "Nick." He replies.

He looks up when the other man speaks up to welcome him and he frowns. Did he really consider himself a superhero or was he joking? Nick can't tell. Before he can reply, the woman already does so and Nick has to try hard to keep the forced smile on his face. 'I'm either insane myself or surrounded by morons.' He thinks to himself. Still, he's relieved these people seem more welcoming than the girl outside.

Speaking of the girl outside, the woman suddenly asks him if there's more people. His face lights up a bit and his smile turns a tad more genuine. "Oh! Yes!" He takes a step further into the church and moves out of the way so they can see the girl behind him. "This is.. er.." He turns around and frowns at the girl. "You still didn't tell me your name."

Roxann ignores Nick and proceeds to follow him from a safe distance as he gets to the church. Nick opens up the doors and well, it seems like there's some people in there after all. Roxann rolls with her eyes, as this is not how she imagined her plan would turn out - now her behaviour towards Nick would probably turn against her, as Roxann wasn't really a peoples-person and if Nick opened op to them, he'd probably tell them of how she had treated him.

Roxanne, still standing a safe distance from Nick away, tries to follow the conversation that is going on between Nick and - apparantly - a few other people. Roxann, however, can't see them, since Nick is in the way. Luckily - or sadly, for that matter - Nick steps aside, and Roxann is able to look at tree people inside the church. Then Nick attempts to introduce her to the tree of them, but he fails, since Roxann still didn't tell him her name.

Cautiously, Roxann steps a bit forward. She not as close as entering the church, but she ought to be more visible to the people inside, and the people inside are more visible to Roxann. Roxann doesn't doubt showing the machine gun - these people could do all kinds of stuff to her, Roxann better made it clear that they should not take her lightly - even though she barely had ammo, a thing that kept roaming in her head. ,,I'm Roxann Thorpe,'' Roxann introduces herself, clearly articulating her last name. ,,So there's people in here after all,'' she sighs, not covering up any sentiment of dissapointment in her voice. Roxann glances at Nick for a moment, looking as if he was guilty of the whole situation. ,,Nice to meet you all.''
