So I went to see City of Bones this afternoon and I was pleasently surprised
It was actually a pretty decent film, Much more than people give it credit for.
Likes:
+ The cast. All the characters were perfectly casted, esp Robert as Simon, Lena as Jocelyn and Jemina as Isabelle
+ The interaction between the characters. The sassyness between Simon and Jace and the bonding between Simon and Isabelle.
+ The Changes from the book. They were done well and were probably for the best in terms of the general audience. The only character I really missed was Raphael.
+ There were more Simon scenes than I expected, which is always a good thing.
+ The fact they already hinted the incest-thing might by a lie (Because the general audience would probably be very disgusted and confused if they would leave it with the whole “Oh, btw you’re brother and sister.” and probably not return for CoA)
+ The CGI was done very, very well
+ I liked how the vampires were “ugly” or at least, non-pretty (But then again, it also kinda worries me for CoA) and the teeth looked realisticly.
+ The fact we saw the attack on Clary’s mom. I liked that they added that.
+ Madam Dorothea freaked me the fnck out!
Dislikes:
- THE MUSIC. Heart by heart and the song by the end were to cheesy for my liking. All the other music was pretty decent.
- I missed the rat scene, but I understand why they left it out (CGI is very expensive and would probably better be saved for a realistic werewolf or something)
- The voices of the Silent brothers. Yeah… no.
- I was a little disappointed that Valentine wasn’t blonde, but I can live with that. The braids were pretty cool though.
So yeah, all in all a pretty decent film that does not deserve the hate it’s getting (probably people thinking it’s the new Twilight.)
